WBG Citizens Urge government to Build Roads

WAU –  The citizens in Western Bahr el Ghazal State have urged the government of South Sudan to boost rural roads network and interstate in order to ease what they called high rate of food and non-food commodity prices in the market.According to one local trader interviewed by the Citizen at Jaw Market he voiced concerns of price inflation and pointed that Western Bahr el Ghazal before imported most commodities from Sudan but the Khartoum regime decided after South seceded to pull economic rope with the new  Republic of South Sudan hoping to win the war on that target, said Mohamed Sebit John.Therefore, all traders shifted their attention to East Africa through Western Equatoria and Central Equatoria routes but poor connection of our States has play negative role in the markets across South Sudan and we as traders call on our government with help of friendly nations to implement building of roads and bridges as second priority to security, said John.The market prices will not be stable unless our government explore possible ways of minimizing the inflation, adding that good roads network “ease  heavy prices”  because all areas have wide access to local and regional markets, he asserted,On asking him why the Price of locally produces bottled water in Western Bahr el ghazal cost 2SSP per small bottle  and 4 SSP Per big one, he said that the sale defends on supply and demand  pointed that more people in town demand clean water.Ghazal and Zahra is two locally distilled water in Western Bahr el Ghazal where production is based in Wau town, and officials there expressed more other factories to come.The Minister of Physical Infrastructure Juliet Raphael told the Citizen that her Ministry is doing well to ensure that the areas of their jurisdiction are covered pointing that the upgrading of Wau International airport belongs to national government.The bridges are under construction and therefore we hope in near future all these bridges will be completed to connect our people wherever they want to go to, said Raphael.
