Robbers Loot Public Information Centre in Juba

JUBA - The night robbers forcefully entered the compound of Public Information Centre under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday and broke a hind window and took along with them desk-top computers, monitors, and other vital properties which the staff  and police still are listing to establish their identities.    According to the senior official in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Clement Aturjong the police detained the guard who was on duty on Saturday and who is suspected to have links with the robbers who stole the property of the Centre and left the rooms disorganized.   The government institutions nowadays have become vulnerable to the night robbers compared to private institutions and we urge the government to deploy armed guards at these institutions in order to effectively take care of delicate public property, said Aturjong.   The police further accused the watchman of appearing three times in the station of alleged accused on the issues of stealing computers and therefore he too was detained to be the part of suspect until investigation occurs, the official said.   The burglars entry to the office is complicated and the security guard on duty is suspected to be aware of their activities, the responsible official claimed.     The official expressed the sequence power cut which has encouraged the criminals to target the government institution since they have knowledge that there were no armed guards to counterattack.    “We have opened the case in the police station and they will do whatever they can to ensure that those behind this robbery are convicted, meanwhile we are appealing to the government to stop deploying unarmed guards in its institutions, said Aturjong.   Last week the Ministry of Higher Education with the Mine Action Authority were attacked by five men two were armed with guns and three were armed with big clubs said the chairperson Jurkuch Barach Jurkuch who appealed to the government to deploy armed guards at public institutions.   “The government institutions are targets because within some few institutions the burglars got some money which encourages others that the government offices have money, said Jurkuch.
