Raja County Commissioners Blames SAF bombing of Raja, 17 Deaths

JUBA - Sudan Armed Forces plane carried heavy bombardment inside South Sudan territory and left at least 17 people dead and displaced many civilians in Raja county of Western Bahr El Ghazal State.  The Commissioner of Raja County Rizik Dominic condemned the bombing. He told the Citizen on Friday on telephone that this year’s Christmas celebrations have been made unhappy for the people of Raja by the shocking events that claimed lives and these began to be registered in the area as from 20th of December 2011.  “Our Christmas is dark because the people of this county marked it in an anxiety as from 20th of December, 2011 in different incidents eight soldiers were killed while three sustained injuries by Arab militias group along the border,” said Dominic.  “On 23rd December in the Christmas eve LRA rebels launched attack in Boro El Madina and abducted two girls one at age of 17 years and the other one 7 years old, raped them and killed them by chopping their heads and hands,” the commissioner said. “The Arab armed militias group from neighbouring South Darfur attacked Boro Tipo in the Northern part of Boro El Madina although there was no casualties on 26th of December then on 28th of December the Sudan air force plane started dropping bombs randomly at Boro El Madina which claimed 17 lives of civilians in the area,” he explained. He pointed that the Sudan armed force is targeting civilian localities.  When asked about the voice of the communities of Raja which has been affected by the bombardment he said that the civilians in the area felt vulnerable blaming on the government of South Sudan of not protecting  them from the external aggression waged by Sudan army.   The commissioner said that he assured the civilians not to leave their areas because they have rights to die in their homes and be buried in their ancestral land rather than running away to look for secure places. He assured them of government determination to protect them and to prevent the Arabs from taking and occupying any lands belonging to South Sudan. “The border areas have become more violent nowadays because the government of Sudan wants to annex these areas which are targeted by Sudan air force to its territory and therefore we urge the international community to condemn such aggression act against sovereign State, said Commissioner  He called upon all South Sudanese to unite and respond to their enemy in one voice and pointed that the enemy is still in the corner and he will use different fronts to fight us, and the on-going inter communal fighting in Jonglei State is part of this.  Meanwhile the SPLA spokesperson Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang confirmed the incidents and the causalities that resulted from Sudan air force raid in Western Bahr el Ghazal and adding that the same air raid happened in Jau area at Parieng in Unity State on 29th December.
