Parliament Discuses Drugs, Food Control Bill

JUBA – The national legislative assembly yesterday debates the drugs and food authority bill 2012 after which the report was presented to the parliament by the chairperson of the joint committees of Health and HIV/Aids and legislation and Justice Hon Elizabeth Nyawal Chol
Member of Parliament representing Tonj East County in warrap state Awut Deng said that people are selling medicine in open sun areas like markets in all parts of the south Sudan and this medicine are not checked whether the have expires or not when they are being brought into the country from the neighboring country,” some of this medicine may have been away in Kenya or Uganda” said Awut She however added that there are many clinics which are owned by the Ugandans and do not even have experiences personnel’s or doctors nor pharmacies   “Medicines are being sold by the people who do not even understand nor speaks English or Arabic” said Bullen Kot Ben, he added that the pharmacists who are selling drugs in the pharmacies are not qualifies people and he argued the ministry in charge to stop issuing license until the bill is fully implemented
However the deputy ministry of health said that it is important if this bill is treated as argent and passed in order to be implemented and sorted all the issues which were raised by the members of the parliament during the discussion, he however stressed out that it is very important if this bill is translates to the grassroots’ so that people will know,” this are some of the clinics have shut down before but the reopen because there was  no law to charge them” said the deputy minister
The minister however argued all the people who are selling the medicine in the open sun or the ground to be immediately arrested and charge
