JUBA – First Grade Judge Duoth Kulang yesterday ruled the case opened against The Citizen in favour of the newspaper.

The Deputy Secretary General of Eastern Equatoria State sued the Newspaper Reporter and the Editor-In-Chief Nhial Bol Aken to the court for an article published last year.

The official  called Gaitano Victor Agalik filed a case to the legal bodies  due to a piece of the news report which appeared in the Newspaper on Thursday 6th, October 2011 Vol. 6 Issue No.256 under title: Eastern Equatoria Document Reveals Cabinet Corruption.

The document containing the Council of Ministers of Eastern Equatoria State in reference was signed by the Deputy Secretary General. He decided on his own behalf to sue the paper to court which he said due to fear of losing his position in the Secretariat General of Eastern Equatoria State.

After the publication of the news, the Governor of the State told the Citizen that what they had done was not corruption but instead was a step to save the State assets from getting damaged.

Despite all these the Deputy Secretary General went to court the result of which he had lost. The Citizen was represented by its advocate Kiir Chol.
